Day 1: Mabamba Swamp tour
You will be picked up very early in the morning after your breakfast at the lodge/residence and drive through Nakawuka with your driver. You will arrive early enough and take a boat ride up to the Mabamba swamp where you will sail through this papyrus covered wetland. You will set your eyes on different water birds like the Angola swallow, blue breasted bee-eater, African fish eagle, Malachite Kingfisher, African Jacana, Yellow-billed duck, White-winged tern and Swamp Flycatcher among other birds. The guides are the people living in these areas whose stories originate from the harassment of these swamp birds for competing for fish in the same swamp. These locals however have been sensitized and are the greatest conservationists in this area. It should be noted that Mabamba is the best place for you to watch the Shoebill stork as it wanders around the swamp to catch a meal. This exercise will take you a few hours and then you return to have your lunch Marking the end of your birding trip at Mabamba wetland.
