4 Days Rwanda Gorillas & Chimp Safari

Some of the major highlights of this 4 days Rwanda trip include; a visit to the genocide memorial site, canopy walk, Chimpanzee tracking, and a visit to the volcanoes national park to watch the mountain Gorillas. The cost of this safari will include all these activities in this short period and you will have a full encounter in this land of a thousand hills.

Full Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and a city tour

You will be welcomed and picked at the Kigali airport by our driver/guide and transfer to the city for a lunch break. If time allows we will head out for a short city tour at the 1994 genocide burial grounds to learn about what transpired in the 1994 genocide and how the country has since recovered from it. Transfer to Nyungwe National Park and check-in at the lodge, have dinner, and night stay at the lodge. (FB)

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Canopy walk at Nyungwe NP

After the morning breakfast, you will be led to the park headquarters for a briefing on the rules and regulations of Chimp tracking with other guests. You will then be divided into groups and led into the forest to search for the habituated Chimp groups. After finding the habituated chimpanzees in the Nyungwe forest, you will be allowed to spend one full hour in their presence as you learn about their way of life. The mothers are seen taking care of the babies, the juveniles playing endlessly as they jump from tree to tree. After this blissful experience, you will then be led back to the lodge for lunch. You will them go for a canopy walk in the Nyungwe forest to enjoy walking on a suspended walkway 50 meters high. The canopy walk is one of a kind in the whole of East Africa and Africa as a whole! The aerial view of this park gives you chance to watch several birds, monkeys, and other primate species in the park. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight there.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After your breakfast at the lodge in Nyungwe, check out and head to the northwest of Rwanda to Volcanoes National Park. The countryside of Rwanda towards the North is very scenic as you watch the local people go about their daily activities, the lush vegetation on the roadside gives a fresh breath to the atmosphere as you drive through. Arrive in the afternoon and check into the lodge, Choose to relax or have a community visit in the evening hours to interact with the locals to understand their culture. Drive to the lodge, have dinner, and night stay.

Day 4: Gorilla tracking

After an early breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing with other guests before you are led by a team of researchers to meet the Gorillas. This exercise may take you 2 hours up to half a day since the Gorillas keep moving in the forest as they feed. After meeting the targeted family, you will be allowed to spend one full hour in their presence as they go about their lives. This time counts from the time of meeting the habituated family. You will then return to the lodge for lunch and departure to Kigali International airport for departure.
