The lowland Gorillas are one of the two subspecies of the western Gorillas found in central Africa in Angola, Cameroon Congo Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. They live in the montane forests and lowland swamps in the central parts of Africa.
Day 1: Transfer to Kahuzi Biega National Park
Start this day with an early breakfast at the lodge/Hotel and set off for Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo. You will have short breaks as you drive through the countryside of Rwanda with our guide sharing a lot with you. The arrival will be in the evening at Bukavu, check in to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
Day 2: Lowland Gorilla tracking
Your driver will pick you from the Hotel in the morning after breakfast and transfer you to the starting point for a briefing by the Park staff. Tracking the Gorillas will start in a few minutes in a group of 8 people. A fully grown silverback can weigh up to 400 pounds and about 5½ feet. They can live up to 50 years or more. The Gorillas and vegetarian in nature feeding on over 95 plant species. You will be allowed to spend an hour with the Gorillas as you learn about their lives. You will then return to the starting point and drive to the lodge for relaxation as you chat the evening away. Dinner and night stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Return to Kigali
Wake up to a delicious breakfast at your hotel/lodge, check out of the lodge and set off on a long drive to Kigali. You will have a short city tour (if time allows) and then drive to the airport for departure.
